Balik Kampung Pt. 2 - Kg. Patau, Tambunan

Here I am, finally! My dad's kampung (village), Kampung Patau.. situated along Tambunan-Ranau Road. This is a real kampung, no shopping malls (just small shops selling only the necessities). And my house has no entertainment: no TV, no radio, only electricity and water. Luckily I remembered to bring the notebook, though! (to watch movie at night lah, what else..)

This is the kampung where the Mahua Waterfall's junction is at (more about this waterfall on the next post). The tourists, especially Japanese, just love this place, as they can clearly see the Kadazandusun's way of living, as well as enjoy the beautiful and almost untouched scenery (only the big power lines are starting to come up on the hills).


This is our house there (but more like a chalet, actually.. small but cozy). As you can see (just a lil' bit lah), my dad's real gong collection are displayed near the door. In my opinion, having a set of real gongs for the family are a must if you're a KadazanDusun. Real gongs are heavier, yes, but the quality is much better as compared to the normal gongs sold nowadays. I guess the heavier it is, the better quality it is, and the higher price it is..?

3 - ouww... urang Tambunan... urang Patau Tambunan... Sumandak Patau Tambunan... Sumandak Lobou? hehe... No wonder la promote Mahua Waterfall... :D... Skolah SMK Tambunan la dulu? hmm... Tambunan is one of the coolest place in Sabah. Coolest bcoz of the temperature... hehe... no factories(big)... no traffic jam... less PTI... all round by green scenary...

4 - Zirbad, no. I didn't study there. I'm a city gurl. I was raised mostly in KK and in the States, only go back kampung on the weekends or during the holidays. Even though I'm half Kadazandusun, I can speak more Chinese than I do with Dusun. Daily language is English.. Pathetic, huh! Hahaha.. (Comment this)
