Those Thread Count And Such

Whenever you go to a hotel, do you check what kind of linens they use for the bed and such? Like whether it uses those expensive linens such as matouk linens or something?

I know of a couple who does that, and they would try to figure out what brand they are, and how many thread counts it is.

Yes, they are that crazy. Super rich too in fact.

I guess that is why they are like that.. because they were brought up like that.

But to me, as long as the bed and pillow is comfortable (and room is clean), it is good enough!

Undecided

Last night, the man and were just chatting away on our plans for our honeymoon next year.

Going back and forth between Asian countries, unable to decide whether we want a relaxing holiday (like these Branson vacation packages), or a shopping holiday.. hehe..

I suggested S.Korea, China (Shenzen), and Singapore.. I know, I’m SO not romantic kan? (other than S.Korea, that is) He on the other hand suggested Taiwan, Germany (that’s not in Asia!) or maybe just in Malaysia itself, like Genting.

Then I turned my head, and saw this:

HUGE poster of a cruise ship!

You know how in movies they say, “Sign are everywhere; you just have to open your eyes and see it”?

Well, I am a big believer of this (since it helped me quite a few times) so naturally I suggested to him about the cruise.

So going on a cruise will definitely be added to one  of our honeymoon vacation trip next year! Woohoo!

Walk For Days

Pathway leading up to Mahua Waterfall
When the fiance and I went back to kampung last month, we managed to do a little walk in the jungle leading to the Mahua Waterfall. The photo above is how the pathway leading up to the waterfall look like. It can be slippery on some paths, so it’s better to wear sport shoes if you like to walk fast, or if you insist on wearing slippers (like what I did!) you just have to walk slow, otherwise you would risk yourself of slipping.

Anyways, pathways like the above reminded me of a story my dad used to tell us (which I then told the fiance about it). When my dad was still a boy and was studying alone in a missionary school in Kota Kinabalu, sometimes my late grandpa would give him a surprise visit now and then.

That’s not the fascinating part though.. what amazed me was that my late grandpa would walk from his kampung somewhere in Tambunan ALL THE WAY to KK.. which took him a couple of days trip! Can you guys imagine that?? Walking in the jungle.. bare feet.. without any actual sealed road or having any mode of public transportation to KK available (like we have now?).. and a journey that takes a few days just to reach KK??

The above story is one of the few stories that I know about my grandpa, and it is certainly my favourite. It just shows how deep a father’s love to his son.. and to me,a very touching story.

But not like now, where practically everything is available to us, like proper roads, public transportation, and own cars.. We’re spoiled, I tell you! Spoiled! Lol.. How many of you would do that for your son..? Or even go back to kampung to visit your parents there, hmm??

That reminds me, my car insurance is expiring next month.. gotta be on the lookout for a car insurance company! ;)

*Blinks* Our Trip Ended Already?

That was super quick!

But then again, what do you expect for a super short 2 days 1 night weekend getaway, right?

(Front yard of our country home.. overlooking paddy fields & hills, green everywhere! Very soothing!)

The man had been planning on our balik kampung trip to de-stress and visit the waterfall all week, and true enough, we went up to Tambunan to my parents’ house there last Saturday! (I say this in excitement because it’s usually difficult to make our holiday plans come true, due to his crazy work schedule)

We reached there at around lunchtime (mom’s cooking’s the best, I tell ya!) but what luck.. the electricity went out at around 6pm, and it lasted all the way until an hour before we left the next day! What’s even worse was that, it only happened to our house lane! Unlucky lah wei!

So what is there to do when there’s no electricity?

I helped mom cooked dinner (though I couldn’t properly see whether the food that I cooked were well done or not) and WC and I ate like crazy! The cold weather sure did a number to our tummies, that’s for sure!

After our candlelight dinner, WC and I competed against each other on of the games on our Blackberries (Word Mole! Hehe..) I won of course, no competition! Muahaha!

So fast forward to today (Monday), back to usual routine. But food intake was cut down.. well back to normal now. Boo.. Unlike WC, lucky for me that I don’t have to worry about finding the fastest ways to lose bellyfat; I’m proud to say that my tummy’s still flat! Muahaha! Jangan jeles!

Giving Out Biz Instead Of Looking for One

Agents are already starting to call me, hoping that I would sign up under their “plan”. I feel like a hot commodity now! Ha!

But since being in the life insurance lead content (I think..?), I guess it is nice being on the other side of the fence (so to speak) for once; me being the customer instead of the agent all the time. Furthermore, since I know most of their tricks, I can definitely omit any parties that is not to my liking! Yeah!

Did I mention that I haven’t been a good agent these days? I haven’t went around in a while to look for customers! So busy with other things, so being an agent has gotta take a back seat for now!

Good job workers.. not!

I have a soft heard when it comes to animals or nature/wildlife. Like if I see a poor cat or dog got ran over and died on the side of the road I’m traveling on, I automatically would say a silent prayer for its soul to just go in peace. Same goes to unnecessary tree cutting, too. Trees have a life too, okay! We shouldn’t simply cut it down nor cut off its branch for no reason!

So when I read about this article on theStar this morning:

Popular butterfly habitat destroyed

Once a tourist attraction: The Raja Brooke Birdwing at the salt lick in Ulu Geroh before the destruction of the site. (below) Workers cutting the iron pipe.

IPOH: Workers who removed the historical Gopeng pipeline for scrap metal have destroyed the largest site for Rajah Brooke butterflies in Ulu Geroh, a major tourist attraction.

All that remains of the salt lick, where the butterflies used to congregate in the thousands to sip water rich in minerals, is now just muddy ground.

Friends of Ecotourism and Na-ture Conservation (Semai) chairman Ahha Bah Udal claimed that workers removing the pipeline on Dec 24 “literally bulldozed” their way through the salt lick next to the Ulu Geroh access road.

“The ground is flattened and there is mud everywhere.

“Until now, the workers have not bothered to take away the pipes, which they left by the side of the road,” said Ahha.

Semai, a collective effort by the orang asli village to promote ecotourism and their lifestyle, has 19 villagers acting as guides to take about 1,500 to 2,000 tourists annually into the jungles to view the Rajah Brooke butterflies and Rafflesia flower as well as to trek up Cameron Highlands.

Ahha said due to the destruction of the site, which had been gazetted by the state Wildlife and National Parks Department as a protected area, it was no longer possible to see the butterflies.

“The butterflies have flown away. They can’t be seen on the ground anymore,” he said.

Yes, they should take action on those irresponsible workers!! Haven’t they watched the movie Avatar?? They’re just like those heartless villains in the movie!

Ish.. this will ruin my mood for the rest of today!

I’d better check out some sites on where to go for CNY holiday next month! Hmm.. Outer Banks rentals perhaps? But too bad..  it’s too far; all the way in the States! WC can’t get leave that long. :(
